INDIANAPOLIS (UWA Athletics) The first NCAA Regional Rankings are out for the 2019-2020 season and the University of West Alabama men's basketball team is ranked sixth in the initial release.

The Tigers (19-6) have posted a 16-6 record against NCAA Division II opponents this season and has a resume bolstered by wins over the third ranked team in the region Lee (16-5 against DII) and the ninth ranked team Alabama Huntsville (18-5).

Florida Southern tops the poll with a 19-2 in region record and a 23-2 mark against all of Division II. FSC is currently the top team in the Sunshine State Conference. Nova Southeastern (16-3) is second in the poll and second in the SSC. The two teams split their regular season meetings with both winning at home.

Valdosta State (18-3) is in fourth place and is currently second in the Gulf South Conference standings. Palm Beach Atlantic (16-6) out of the SSC is fifth in the rankings.

Currently 12-7 in region and against DII opponents, Barry is seventh in the rankings followed by Embry-Riddle (14-9) in the eighth spot.

Miles (16-3) is the tenth team in the rankings and is the lone representative from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

With no SIAC team in the top eight in the rankings, the winner of that conference tournament would likely be the eighth seed in the NCAA South Regional if the season were to end today.

Several teams in these initial rankings still have matchups against each other so movement in the first of the three rankings from the NCAA should be expected.

West Alabama returns to action tomorrow on the road against West Georgia. Tipoff is set from 6:30 p.m. central.
