West Lauderdale Football Embracing New District

COLLINSVILLE, Miss. (WTOK)- West Lauderdale will have some brand new competition in 2019 as they make the move into Class 4A District 4.

No longer are district games with Newton County and Quitman, although the Knights do keep Quitman on their 2019 schedule as a non-district game.

Northeast Lauderdale will also make the move. New district opponents include Choctaw Central, Kosciusko, Leake Central and defending 4A State Champions Louisville.

"We haven't played those teams in a long time so it's hard to say," said head coach Brock Clay when asked about taking a potential step up in competition.

"You have the 4A defending champs in Louisville, so that's obviously going to be tough," added Clay.

"This is a district that's never really played before, just a lot of new teams added to it."

West Lauderdale opens up the 2019 season Aug. 23 at Nanih Waiya.
