BRANDON, Miss. (WTOK) West Lauderdale and Florence were competing for the MHSAA 4A State Championship for a third-straight season. The Lady Knights edged out the Lady Eagles 3-0 in last year's title game and looked to do it again this year.

West Lauderdale's Lucy Green would score the Lady Knight's first goal with Bailee Fairley and Anna Aviles adding two more to give the team a 3-0 lead at the midway point of the first half.

With 18 minutes left in the first half, Green connected with Alice Williamson who slipped a shot into the right side of the goal to give West Lauderdale a 4-0 lead. Only eight minutes later, Fairley picked up her second goal of the game to give the Lady Knights a 5-0 lead at the half.

In the second half, the Lady Eagles were unable to net anything while the Lady Knights also were scoreless in the second half.

Due to a dominant first half performance, the Lady Knights were able to call themselves state champions once again, defeating Florence 5-0 to claim their fourth state title in five years.

Goalie Kristin Hayes had six saves in net for West Lauderdale who will look to add onto the dynasty next season.
