Lauderdale County, Miss. Dozens of employees in the Lauderdale County School System have had their personal information taken and school officials still aren't sure how it happened.
School officials confirmed about 70 employees of the school system had their information stolen. They say someone tried to file tax returns under those names.
The district has been investigating how it happened for a couple of months, but no source has yet been identified.
Financial officer, Charlotte Parker, says all of the employees were notified and they were all able to file tax returns themselves this year with no problem.
Parker also says several other districts in Mississippi and Alabama have had similar problems.
