Meridian, Miss. Four teenagers have been charged with capital murder and burglary in the death of 94-year-old Eva Carmichael early Sunday morning.

Marcus Steele, II, Juwan McCallum, and JaQuis Houston , all 18, as well as 17-year-old Deshay Shively were charged Thursday.

Meridian Police Chief Benny Dubose made the announcement at a news conference. He says detectives worked extra hours this week
to solve this crime.

Dubose said investigators believe the crime started as a burglary with the suspects thinking no one was at home.

Carmichael was shot multiple times.

Chief Dubose said the arrests would not have been possible without a lot of help from the community, the patrol division, the criminal investigation division, the violent crime unit, the gang unit and the East Mississippi Drug Task Force.

But the case isn't closed yet. The chief says it's possible that more arrests or charges could be coming. If you have information, call Crimestoppers at 855-485-8477.
