Meridian, Miss. Leroy Lewis and Payton Ann Bailey arrived at the Meridian Police Department Friday night after being extradited from Montgomery where they were arrested on Tuesday.
The two were caught in their hometown of Montgomery after leading police on a high-speed chase in the same vehicle matching the description given by witnesses who saw the shooting.
Both were wanted in connection with a shooting Monday night near 8th street in downtown Meridian that left, 23 year old, Rondricus Rogers dead. During the chase, police say that Leroy Lewis and Peyton Bailey threw a handgun out of the window which was later recovered. The Meridian Police Department says the gun, along with shell casings found at the murder scene, have been sent to the state crime lab to confirm whether or not it was used during the shooting.

"Sometime next week they're going to have a hearing and based on that hearing and the judge feels like there is enough evidence then they will move to the next grand jury and will be presented to the grand jury," says Detective Dareall Thompson of the Meridian Police Department.

The two were interrogated by Meridian police in Montgomery and are currently being processed at the Meridian Police Department, where detectives will talk to them again.
