Showers still in the picture for the next few days
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -
Our Tuesday morning is starting out with some spotty showers that are rolling across central and eastern Mississippi. As we go throughout the day, we’ll continue to see spotty showers and a few thunderstorms roll through the area. While some storms will bring along some heavy rainfall in some spots, not everyone will end up seeing rainfall today.
Temperatures this morning have started out in the lower to mid 70s, and highs this afternoon will climb into the mid to upper 80s. It will be rather humid this afternoon, so heat index values will climb into the mid to upper 90s, nearing the triple digits in some areas. Tonight we’ll see a break from the rainfall and the cloud coverage and temperatures will drop down into the low 70s.
FIRST ALERT: LOW END RISK FOR SEVERE WEATHER TOMORROW
On Wednesday, there is a low end risk for severe weather as portions of central and eastern Mississippi are covered under a level one marginal risk for severe weather. The biggest risk will be the potential for damaging wind gust as stronger storms roll through the area tomorrow afternoon. Be sure to have multiple ways of getting weather alerts and remain weather aware.
Showers and storms will be off and on for most of the work week, bringing more heavy rainfall, thunder and lightning. It will also be rather hot and humid for most of the work week, with temps near the low 90s and heat index values nearing 100 degrees. Showers will slowly start to clear out as we head into the weekend, and it will still be rather hot and humid outside with temps in the mid 90s and heat index values in the triple digits.
